Case Studies
Time Frame: April 2024 – March 2025

As a registered operator with the Colorado ECMC, Carbon Shield acted as liaison between the ECMC and a residential real estate developer regarding engineering, permitting and operational execution of the re-entry plugging and abandonment of the William H. Peltier #1 wellbore affecting the proposed residential development. It was discovered that the wellbore had been leaking methane into the soil, presumably since it was plugged initially in 1996.
Carbon Shield located the plugged well, submitted engineering designs and permits to the ECMC, and successfully replugged the previously abandoned wellbore performing compliance checks throughout abandonment operations.
The Company then performed all required environmental testing and reclamation activities, filed Form 27s (Initial and Supplemental) and a Form 4 Site Closure Request. Carbon Shield received approval on the final inspection of the William H. Peltier #1 on 3/5/2025, officially closing out the remediation project and allowing for future residential development of the property.
